Yanping Liu specializes in antitrust and competition matters, as well as regulatory investigations of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Dr. Liu applies economic theory and econometric techniques to a range of competition issues. She leads teams to analyze large, complex datasets in matters involving the chemicals, entertainment, healthcare, life sciences, technology, and transportation industries, among others. Dr. Liu works with attorneys on all phases of the litigation process and supports experts through discovery and trial.

Dr. Liu analyzes class certification, liability, and damages issues in antitrust matters alleging monopolization, price fixing, tying, and exclusionary practices. Her experience includes:
- Assessing class certification issues and proposed damages models in a high-profile class action involving a large digital platform operator’s alleged monopolization
- Consulting on Epic v. Apple, which Global Competition Review recognized as its 2022 Matter of the Year
- Analyzing liability and damages related to alleged price-fixing by generic drug manufacturers

Dr. Liu has consulted on merger investigations and high-profile merger litigation in a variety of industries. She assesses both horizontal and vertical antitrust issues, as well as novel theories of harm. She has consulted on behalf of merging parties as well as government agencies. Her work includes:
