Andrew Swan is a consulting economist specializing in the economics of competition policy and economic regulation. For more than fifteen years, Mr. Swan has consulted on prominent regulatory and litigation proceedings, supporting clients in horizontal and non-horizontal mergers and agreements cases, matters alleging abuses of dominance, cartel investigations, and market inquiries. His experience includes multiple matters before the UK Competition and Markets Authority and the European Commission, as well as authorities and courts in other global jurisdictions.
Industry publications such as Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal) have recognized Mr. Swan among leading competition economics consultants.
Mr. Swan’s experience covers a range of antitrust and regulatory issues. He has particular expertise in technology and telecommunications mergers, in the economics of network industries, and in vertical and conglomerate matters. His industry experience also includes advertising, agriculture, aviation, construction, consumer goods, financial services, healthcare, insurance, life sciences, manufacturing, media, mining, petrochemicals, and transportation.
Mr. Swan worked on VMware/Broadcom, which Global Competition Review (GCR) named as 2024 Merger Control Matter of the Year. Other representative merger work includes Aon/Willis Towers Watson, JD Sports/Footasylum, Hitachi/ABB Power Grid Division, Danaher/GE Healthcare Life Sciences, IBM/Red Hat, BT/EE, and Telkom/BCX.
Before joining Cornerstone Research, Mr. Swan held senior positions at economics consulting firms in London and Johannesburg. Previously, he worked as an economist in the Policy and Research Division at the South African Competition Commission in Pretoria.
