Ahsan Kirmani focuses on securities litigation and valuation matters, as well as government enforcement actions. Mr. Kirmani manages large teams conducting complex economic and financial analyses, and supports clients and experts through all phases of litigation, including at trial, and in regulatory proceedings.
Securities
Mr. Kirmani has extensive experience with matters involving Rule 10b-5 and Section 11/12 claims. In Rule 10b-5 cases, he has examined issues relevant to class certification (including market efficiency, price impact, and Comcast considerations) as well as merits (including loss causation and inflation). In addition, he has assessed potential damages exposure and conducted analyses used in settlement discussions.
Valuation
Mr. Kirmani has conducted valuations of companies and individual assets using discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable companies, and comparable transactions methodologies. He has evaluated the impact of an alleged material adverse effect (MAE) on a target company’s valuation. In addition, he has evaluated factors that can create long-term value for firms.
Government enforcement actions
Mr. Kirmani has worked with respondents in enforcement actions involving the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He has also addressed issues related to corporate benefits and inadequate disclosures.
