San Francisco—Cornerstone Research, a leading provider of economic and financial consulting and expert testimony, has announced the promotions of four senior staff to the role of vice president: Iris Jiang, Penka Kovacheva, Nicole Moran, and Anna Shakotko.

Iris Jiang specializes in accounting and finance. Dr. Jiang leads large teams working with prominent testifying experts to analyze capital market accounting issues, equity and debt market investments, structured products, and business valuation. She coleads Cornerstone Research’s initiatives related to Rule 10b-5 and Section 11 matters, and consults to clients on matters involving market efficiency, price impact, Comcast, materiality, loss causation, and damages. She has experience with all phases of litigation, including class certification, merits, and trial, as well as arbitrations, regulatory investigations, and enforcement actions. Dr. Jiang is based in Washington.
Penka Kovacheva specializes in litigation and regulatory investigations within the life sciences and healthcare industries. In addition to being a testifying expert herself, Dr. Kovacheva works with academic experts and attorneys, and leads large teams to perform complex economic and statistical analyses on a range of issues within these industries. She has extensive experience with antitrust litigation and merger investigations, as well as matters involving alleged product misrepresentation, product liability, statistical sampling, and intellectual property. Dr. Kovacheva is based in Los Angeles.
Nicole M. Moran specializes in commodity futures and options markets and matters related to FinTech. Dr. Moran coheads Cornerstone Research’s FinTech group, where she leads teams on government investigations and civil disputes. She has extensive expertise in derivative markets, for both exchange-traded and over-the-counter products that involve allegations of market manipulation and antitrust. She has presented on behalf of her clients to regulators at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the Department of Justice, and the Federal Reserve. Prior to joining Cornerstone Research, she worked at the CFTC, focusing on agricultural markets. Dr. Moran is based in Washington.
Anna Shakotko has over fifteen years of experience supporting clients on complex economic and consumer behavior issues arising in product liability, antitrust, defamation, intellectual property, and tax controversy disputes. Ms. Shakotko has extensive experience with consumer class actions and private product disputes. Her expertise includes survey and experimental techniques, statistical and econometric analysis, and content analysis. She also specializes in the analysis of intangible assets, particularly in the context of tax disputes. She leads teams on cases across a range of industries, with a focus on hardware and software technologies, consumer goods, real estate, and agricultural products. Ms. Shakotko is based in New York.
