Washington, DC—Cornerstone Research has been nominated for Global Competition Review’s GCR Awards 2020 for its work on multiple high-profile matters. Among these were four matters named in the Team Category.
Two cases were shortlisted for Merger Control Matter of the Year – Americas.
- Disney/Fox: Cleary Gottlieb retained Aviv Nevo of the University of Pennsylvania and Cornerstone Research to assist in the U.S. Department of Justice’s regulatory review of Disney’s proposed $71.3 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox film and TV studios and certain cable networks.
- T-Mobile/Sprint: Morrison & Foerster retained John Asker of UCLA, Timothy Bresnahan of Stanford University, and Kostis Hatzitaskos of Cornerstone Research to assist with the regulatory review of T-Mobile’s $26 billion merger with Sprint.
A third matter was shortlisted for Litigation of the Year – Cartel Defence.
- Intuniv Antitrust Litigation: Haug Partners and Goodwin Procter retained Cornerstone Research and James Hughes of Bates College in this pharmaceutical pay-for-delay case brought by a class of indirect purchasers.
A fourth matter was shortlisted for Litigation of the Year – Non-cartel Defence.
- Oscar Insurance v Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida: Cravath, Swaine & Moore, defence counsel for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Inc., retained Cornerstone Research to support expert testimony by Laurence Baker of Stanford University.
GCR will announce the winners at its tenth annual awards ceremony, celebrating the best in competition enforcement, merger, and cartel defense. The event will be held in Washington, DC, on a date to be announced.
