Aviv Nevo Receives 2017 Antitrust Enforcement Award

The American Antitrust Institute has honored Aviv Nevo for Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Economics.

Washington, DC—Aviv Nevo of the University of Pennsylvania is an honoree of the American Antitrust Institute 2017 Antitrust Enforcement Awards. He is receiving the award for Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Economics.

The AAI is recognizing Professor Nevo for his work in United States of America, et al. v. Aetna Inc., et al. Professor Nevo was the U.S. Department of Justice’s economist and main expert witness. He provided testimony on market definition issues and likely competitive effects of the proposed merger of Aetna–Humana, two of the largest health insurance companies in the United States.

Aviv Nevo is the George A. Weiss and Lydia Bravo Weiss University Professor and Professor of Economics and Marketing at The Wharton School and Department of Economics, University of Pennsylvania. He was formerly chief economist at the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice, where he advised on merger, as well as civil and criminal, investigations.
