London—Who’s Who Legal named John Asker of the University of California, Los Angeles and Kenneth Elzinga of the University of Virginia in its list of Thought Leaders 2018. Who’s Who Legal highlights individuals who have worked on ‘some of the world’s most significant and cutting-edge legal matters.’
Professor Asker was selected for the inaugural list of competition thought leaders. He has testified as an expert witness and served as an economic consultant to several government agencies. He has written on the impacts of market power, vertical market structure, and cartels, from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. His research includes studies of financial markets, commodities, transportation and consumer goods.
Who’s Who Legal also named Professor Elzinga to the inaugural list of competition thought leaders. He has testified in several precedent-setting antitrust cases, including three decided by the Supreme Court. He has written many scholarly publications, co-created the Elzinga-Hogarty test, and served as a special economic adviser to the head of the antitrust division of the US Department of Justice. Professor Elzinga is a legendary teacher who has taught more than 45,000 students, and received the University of Virginia’s highest honour, the Thomas Jefferson Award, in recognition of his work.
