This three-day conference in Boston will include panel discussions and contributed sessions on a range of industrial organization topics, including antitrust economics and regulation.

The following staff and affiliated experts will speak at the meeting:

Rising Stars: Platforms

Avi Goldfarb of the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, will serve as a discussant in a session titled “Attribution and Compensation Design in Online Advertising.” (3 May, 5:00–6:30pm ET)

The Emerging Economics of AI

In this plenary session, Professor Goldfarb will present on the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in the digital economy. (4 May, 5:00–6:30pm ET)

Information and Organizational Design

Francine Lafontaine of the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan will chair this session and also present her paper, “How Do Firms Protect Competitively Sensitive Information? The Case of Franchising.”

Bargaining and Pricing in Vertical Arrangements

Professor Lafontaine will serve as a discussant in a session focused on “Vertical Contracts and Product Introduction: Evidence from the US Yogurt Industry.”

Merger Analysis

Christopher Lau of Cornerstone Research will present on a panel titled, “A First-order Approximation to Merger Effects when Prices are Determined through Joint Bargaining.” (4 May, 10:15am–12:15pm ET)

Mergers Effects and Welfare

Dr. Lau will serve as discussant for a paper titled, “Mergers and Quality Provision in Healthcare: Evidence from Nursing Homes.” (4 May, 2:15–4:15pm ET)
