Cornerstone Research provided economic consulting in FCC proceedings related to competition in mobile wireless, broadband services, and special access services provided by local exchange carriers.
Michael Topper of Cornerstone Research was retained to provide expert analysis in three separate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proceedings involving Verizon and/or Verizon Wireless. Dr. Topper analyzed the following:
- The competitiveness of mobile wireless services.
- The market environment for broadband access services to consumers, and the implications of the market environment for “network neutrality” proposals from the FCC.
- The FCC’s regulation and pricing of special access services provided by local exchange carriers.
In these matters, Dr. Topper opined on the appropriate analytical framework for the FCC to use in assessing competition, the economic influence of existing and proposed regulation, and the implications of the FCC’s specific proposals.
