Pol Antràs is an international economics expert, focusing on international trade, global supply chains, and the industrial organization of multinational corporations. In the context of litigation, he has substantial experience analyzing complex tax controversy issues.

Professor Antràs has served as an expert witness in tax controversy matters, where he has evaluated how and where businesses generate value. He has authored expert reports and testified in depositions and at trial.

In his academic work, Professor Antràs examines the connections between globalization and factors such as interest rates, market power, and international relations. He has applied microeconomic theory, including contract theory, to analyze multinational corporations and their decision-making processes. In other research, he has analyzed global value chains, such as sourcing and production processes, property rights, and the effect of trade disruptions on economic activity. Professor Antràs has also evaluated the impact of interest rates on world trade, notably how changes in borrowing costs influence global production and trade patterns.

Professor Antràs publishes his research in leading economics journals, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the Journal of Political Economy. He is the author of Global Production: Firms, Contracts, and Trade Structure (Princeton University Press) and coeditor of World Development Report 2020: Trading for Development in the Age of Global Value Chains (World Bank Group). Professor Antràs has served on editorial boards and as an editor for numerous academic journals.

Since 2008, Professor Antràs has been a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), where he also directed the International Trade and Organization (ITO) Working Group. In addition, he is a research affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR); a member of CESifo, a global independent research network based in Germany; and a member of the Scientific Council of the Barcelona School of Economics.

During his more than two decades on the Harvard faculty, Professor Antràs has taught courses on international trade and globalization topics. He speaks regularly at academic and professional conferences, government and research entities, and universities in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
