Aaron Stern is an insurance and reinsurance expert with nearly five decades of experience, including as an executive, arbitrator, underwriter, auditor, and consultant. Mr. Stern’s wide-ranging insurance expertise spans accounting, finance, tax, and regulation in the United States, United Kingdom, Bermuda, and other international insurance jurisdictions. He has been retained as an expert witness in numerous litigation and arbitration matters.
As President and CEO of Stern A. B. Inc., an insurance and reinsurance consulting and brokerage firm, Mr. Stern consults on matters involving mortgage and financial guaranty, residual value, credit and surety, alternative risk transfer, and structured coverages bridging the insurance and capital markets. He performs underwriting and claims audits of managing general agents (MGAs) and other companies involved in program business.
Mr. Stern has held executive-level positions in U.S. and international holding and reinsurance companies throughout his career. His experience includes, for example, catastrophe reinsurance, alternative and financial risks, and insurance risk securitization.
Mr. Stern has contributed to professional and academic publications on insurance risk and speaks regularly at practitioner meetings and conferences.
Mr. Stern was an electrical engineering student at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn prior to his deployment to Vietnam. He later studied accounting at Baruch College. He is a U.S. Army veteran and has been awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
